The Dream Sailor table lamp is inspired by the sailboat that gracefully sails on the river in the sunset. It features a geometric form that embodies a wabi-sabi aesthetic appeal, creating layered halo on its circular lens surface.
We made it a rechargeable portable lamp, so it is easy to carry with you and perfect for side table, night stand, small dinning table, and anywhere happiness happens.
The Dream Sailor - Prototypes
In the quietude of our Seattle studio, we found ourselves drawn to the interplay between shadow and substance. The initial spark came from observing how natural wood grain creates its own topography—valleys and ridges that catch light in unexpected ways.
We began with the fundamental question: how might a lamp exist as both illumination and sculpture? The answer revealed itself through reduction rather than addition. By carving precise channels into solid American Walnut, we discovered that the wood itself could become the lens.
The Fresnel element emerged not as decoration, but as necessity—a way to bend and soften light without the weight of traditional glass. Each prototype taught us something new about the relationship between craft and physics. The wood responds to every subtle variation in grain, ensuring that no two pieces are identical.
What began as an exploration of minimalism became a meditation on individuality. The Drift Collection celebrates the inherent uniqueness of natural materials, where each lamp carries within it the story of its own making. Light doesn't simply emerge from these forms—it collaborates with them, creating an ever-changing dialogue between illumination and shadow.
